about Adam
I made my public profession of my belief and dependence on Christ when I was 8 years old in 1981 and was baptized the next day in a frozen creek in Mallory, WV by my then pastor Rev. Clarence Fortner with my family and the congregation of Greenbranch Free Will Baptist Church in attendance.

From that time I have worn many hats including: infantryman in the US Army, truck driver, POC Firefighter and federal contract armed security officer. While working in my first job after leaving the Army in 1992, providing security for housing projects in the piedmont area of North Carolina, the Lord called me into ministry. God has turned my onetime mistrust and despising of the people I came into contact with during the two years I worked those projects into a ministry passion.

I was ordained a priest on December 31, 2005 in a jurisdiction not affiliated with AMiA or St. Paul’s Church and am currently enrolled at Cummins Theological Seminary and upon completion of my degree program I hope to serve as a priest with Anglican Mission in America.

With with my wife Laura and our three children, I reside in Asheville North Carolina where we are active members of St. Paul's Church – Asheville (AMiA) where I direct The S.O.S. Mission at St. Paul’s Church, the parish’s community mission effort.

The S.O.S. Mission at St. Paul's Church desires to empower individuals and families to live spiritually healthy and productive lives through the practical application of the Word of God. S.O.S. works to identify and serve at risk and families in crisis through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe the biggest impact we can make in our community is through the offering of ourselves in service to families who are trapped in cycles of abuse, addiction, neglect and violence. The mission accomplishes this through servant evangelism, discipleship in the Faith of Christ, healthy family living mentoring and support, and by serving as advocates in the courts, child and social services, medical and mental health agencies and drug and alcohol rehabilitation services. It is our hope and our earnest desire to be used by God in the transforming of lives and the breaking of cycles that lead to generations of hurt and damaged souls as evidenced in the condition of outrageous numbers of American Families today. Far too long the Church in America has left this to the courts, civic agencies and government authorities. St. Paul’s Church hopes to be a Godly example in opening our hearts and our doors to the beaten, battered, addicted, abused, neglected, and the weak and the tired among us who Christ loves.

My prayer is that I can put to use all aspects of my Christian background to enable me to emulate the apostle Paul who said “…I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.” (1 Co 9:22 ESV) While remaining steadfast and true to “…the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.” (Jude 1:3 ESV)

Jesus Christ! (Duh...), Ronald Reagan, any veteran, my mother, Wm. Eric Thomas, and the two most influential pastors in my life who will remain unamed here for the time being. My wife who puts up with me (she is grace personified and is proof that God loves sinners like me). My best friend Chris Gillett and anyone who responds to God's call to "just do it".
