The Places...

The brownies are in the oven and I'm reeking of semi-sweet chocolate, and butter. My roommate is watching the game and I'm plugged into my iPod like there's no tomorrow. This has been a long time coming, I've been asking myself a lot of questions lately. Since I've finally graduated from college, and I'm trying to find my place in " the real world"
(whatever the heck that means? that vent is another blog for another day) in which I still haven't found what I'm looking for (pardon the U2 reference). I can't help but wonder what's going on.
Here's the situation?
God is trying to tell me something? I'm sure of it... which He's always trying to tell us something right. But, this time it's maybe not the "big one" but close.
I am in a place of waiting, but I need to be constantly moving.
I am in a place of little patience, but I must be content.
I am in a place of oxymoron's?.
How do I do all these things and not miss what the next move is?
This and questions like it have been stirring in my head for quite some time now.
I think I'm coming close to an answer? here's how?
Oh, time out the brownies have finished?.
20 mins. later
The question I'm trying to answer still stands?no matter how many batches of brownies I try to make. But, that's ok?
The Place of Waiting:
This should be re-titled The Place of Listening.
This spot in my life is not about the position we wait? sitting, standing, leaning, or other wise; this is the " in the meantime" place.
A place to multi task, for example? a mom for instance: she waits in the car line to pick up her kids, she's a long ways down the line and school still doesn't let out for another 45 minutes? so she balances the check book, and calls hubby to see what he wants for dinner, and check the general game plain.
The main objective of the day at that moment is to get the kids? but she still fills the time. The kids do their work in class and soon enough the bell rings and the cars start moving?
It's not about what position your in, it's what you do while your waiting for the main objective?
The Place of Constant Movement:
I would re-title this one The place of Vigilance.
(I'm going to make a small note here? this does not mean you are denied rest? far from it, sometimes we all need to take a step back? if that is what you feel like you should do, then do it. I've done this recently my self. But, don't stay there too long, get the rest you need, and then start moving. )
In the Song of Solomon the prince describes his bride's nose as the Tower of Lebanon. This, believe it or not ladies is a great complement. The Tower of Lebanon was the biggest strongest tower on the city, Watch Tower number one, it faced the weakest point, the easiest point for the enemy to get into the city. He tells her in essence " You have my back?. You face toward my enemies, you watch out for me."
This is Vigilance. To consistently have an eye out for the enemy. Sometimes the places of transition are when we are the most weak, because we are vulnerable to ideas from the outside, but really it may just be the devil trying to get us out in the open so he can cause more trouble than what should be aloud.
This is not just a point to have your guard up, but to keep your ears open as well, you never know what direction God may need to turn your head.
The Place of Little Patience:
" Do not be anxious in Anything but, in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." (Phil 4:6 ESV)
Sometimes we say, " I just can't wait" ? yes? yes you can.
When we are in these places we tend to think that were being grounded, or oddly punished. That God has for gotten us and we have to get His attention some how. That's not the case, like any good loving parent, God knows exactly where his kids are. And just because you have to wait in line doesn't mean that God has forgotten you. It just means it's not your turn. If you're having a hard time with that concept then go to The Father about it.
" And the peace of God which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Phil 4:7)
The Place of Contentment:
This is my Akiles Heal, my weakest point. I have the hardest time in being content. Because I equate being "content" with staying "stupid" or "ignorant" and liking it. Slowly, I'm getting better at that. But, it has not been easy.
As my new understanding has opened up to me I have come to an idea of this?.
His Grace is Sufficient.
When I'm anxious? His grace is Sufficient.
When I'm in some new land of wonder?. His Grace is Sufficient.
When I feel I'm all alone in a room of ten thousand? His Grace is Sufficient.
When all I have is Questions?
You Guessed it.
It's not necessarily about being Ok with where you're at. It's about being confident in His grace. It's about trusting God, and Being Ok with not knowing the big picture.
I think we trust God it find us good parking places easier than we do in trusting Him with the major issues in our lives....
To check out what I'm reading: Check Out "Don't Waste Your Life" by John Piper. Check out the Study Book that goes with it.
Need a New Podcast to listen to, Check Out: What Bono Loves About Grace. It's free and awesome. ( on Itunes)
As Always, let me now how your doing, and where your at. Maybe we can share this Journey together.
Love You.
