i'm a bit of a gourmet geek - never happier than when cooking food, reading about food, planning food, shopping for food, talking about food, and most especially watching people i love enjoying food i made for them. there's something so nuturing about it, so unifying. food is the great leveler.
music is my mood-altering drug of choice - playing it, listening to it, whatever. i love to jam with some friends with my violin or my voice or sometimes a borrowed glockenspiel... i want to learn to play the mandolin, the harmonica, the piano (in more than one key), and the upright bass. i appreciate music that is eclectic, original and has good lyrics, which leads me to my other major interest...
i love words: arranging them, thinking about them, writing them down. i would like to be a better writer. poetry helps me escape my often overly-literal mind. when i write it takes me into the relief of abstraction, where it's easier to breathe. i often write to sleep.
