Sandra McGarry's hobbies
I could spend a lot, lotta, lotta time listening to Chritian radio, especially the Moody Bible Network. Here in East Texas we have a Christian radio station, KBJS (as in Keep Believin' Jesus Saves) and I start off my day with the alarm set to them. I get to hear such wonderful teaching during the week before I even get to work such wisdom from brothers and sisters like the now-gone-on-pastor Adrian Rogers, then shortly RZIM's program comes on, Our Daily Bread, Les Lanborn, Mary Welchel's Christian Working Woman, Michael Easley, Irwin Lutzer. I usually have my notebook close to me if not in my hand and take notes. The thought usually comes to me about 50 times or so during the day of how blessed I am to hear the Word and to be taught from the Word just at the press of a button.
I do some cross-stitch. I love to read. I really like to be in the outdoors; I have some flowers in my yard that I planted and it thrills me to take care of them. In my mind I think that I am giving my yard the chance to shout out the praises of our great and awesome God by providing it with seed to sprout, bloom and blossom a beautiful creation that only could have only been His idea!
Movies? hmm, let's see...A favorite is Fiddler on the Roof. Shrek is pretty good. Finding Nemo, too. How about Teahouse of the August Moon? I like that one too. The Gods Must Be Crazy teaches a powerful lesson and is entertaining. Oh, man, I laughed so hard watching a movie acouple of years ago that I can't remember the name of. It was about four guys who took a motorcycle road trip
TV? Get this. Ready? umhmm, I cancelled my cable around April Fools' Day. No TV for me. I got sick of my money going for stuff that I knew God hated. If cable ever got to where I could select what I wanted, even just on a basic level, I might budget for it again. But then some of the commercials demonstrate that very rich and powerful companies have no fear of God either. I get grieved and stressed with television; I am probably much better off without it.
Books? Yea, nowwe talkin', babeee. My favorite genre is historical fiction. Authors that have gripped my attention to where I better not pick up their book before I go to bed (b/c it'll be 2a.m. before I make myself put it up) are Brock and Bodie Thoene.
