about Elissa
Wow, about me? I am really good at listening and telling you about you. I can tell somone else about you too. But me? Let's see I am the Director of a social work agency in East Tennessee. I work a lot. I am devoted to the Lord, my church home, my friends and the gospel. I like to think that I am funny and have a great sense of humor. I have been to Germany 3 times in the past 2 years as part of a team who developed and implemented a really awesome research project that transformed how I think about witnessing and sharing the gospel. Visit www.atlanticlink.org for more info about that project.

I am in a relationship now after almost a decade of not being an a relationship. It is wonderful. It is scary. It is risky. And it is worth every minute of it. At age 37 I had given up on meeting "Mr. Well... ok" and never dreamed that I would meet someone like John. He was walking down my street one December day with his two dogs. The little one pooped in my yard and John apologized while whipping a baggie out of his back pocket to pick it up. What can I say, he had me at the baggie. Visit www.hallahart.com for more info about John, his dogs and his art.
Denomination: Evangelical Free Church
Church Involvement: Member
Leadership Involvement: Volunteer leader of a small group or ministry team (admin, etc.)
Church Interests: Singles, Missions
Hmm. I wish I'd been able to meet Francis Schaffer before he died.
I like to meet people, listen to them and find out what they think about everything. Someday I hope to meet the Boltik clan in Minnesota. Someday.
Seriously? Perhaps I am too much of a pessimist to answer this question, but I will try.

I really admire a few folks, like Kevin Huggins one of the pastors at FEFC, Sue Dee, Jana Spicka and Dawn Robison. I would say that John Boltik is pretty close to a hero in my eyes. He is fiercely honorable, kind and truthful. He makes me feel safe. Together we are walking through the field of landmines that is my life.

Elissa Pusser's hobbies
When I am not recovering from a torn ACL... I like to go to the gym. Working out is the best stress reliever that I know. I used to have so many interests and was always busy with something. The last place you could find me was at home. I still have a lot of interests but I try to be less busy. I work a lot. I am in the middle of a home remodel. I love managing the content of my boyfriend's web site. I enjoy my pets, my friends, travel (especially fond of Germany) and laughing.
I am partial to alternative, acoustic, bluegrass, and folk music. I tend to listen to the same stuff over and over. Maybe it is part of getting old but I don't really seek out new artists and bands anymore.

However I do have this friend, Kerry Greene, who makes really great mixed CDs for me every now and then. Through those CDs I've been exposed to some newer music and bands that I really like including Death Cab for Cutie and The Killers. Once we made a mixed CD together and I chose a lot of songs from Justin Timerblake's new album. Yep, it shocked me too but I dug his new stuff including "Sexy Back". I think Kerry is filing a law suit against me for getting her hooked on Timberlake.
I don't like horror movies or violent movies. I like just about everything else. I don't go to the movies much at all though. I prefer to watch movies on DVD or on cable. It's always a surprise when I let STARZ provide my movie choices. I never know what I will get and sometimes will watch movies that I wouldn't otherwise think I would like. Recently I watched "The Gridiron Gang". I thought I would hate it. I actually liked it and was impressed that it seemed to stay true to the actual events and original story (unlike when The Rock portrayed Buford H. Pusser in "Walking Tall").
Ok, I am going to be really honest here. I am currently addicted to some shows on VH1. "Scott Baio is 45 and Single" fascinates me and repulses me at the same time. I do like how Scott has transformed on the show though, I guess even Chachie can be redeemed.

I also watch The Pickup Artist. The principle of the show makes me feel ill and I think Mystery is the most confusing and ridiculous individual I have ever seen but I like how the contestants do not really compete against each other in a cutthroat manner like on all other reality shows. I suspect though that the one who wins the title of Master Pick Up Artist will forfiet many of the things that make him so unique. Like um his soul!

I like to watch college football and basketball in season. I've learned a lot from my cousin, Charles Pusser. Last year in football season he told me he was proud of me because I had learned the game so well and was starting to recognize the players and stuff. It was touching, it made me cry. Well, almost.
Best thing I have read lately is "Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything" by Steven D. Levitt, Stephen J. Dubner. It is also the only thing other than the Bible that I have read lately. I suppose as an English major I should feel some shame about that. I do like to read. I have tons of books. I especially enjoy Southern Literature. Last year when I had surgery on my right ACL I collected a stack of books I was going to read while I recovered. Instead I slept a lot. Now that I am facing another surgery for the left ACL I think I will collect another stack of books that I want to read as I recover. Any suggestions?
