Post 4th of July blues

Sat, July 5th, 2008 @ 11:53AM

Yes, it's July 5th and the Holiday is over. Never did make it to fireworks on the 3rd, Dawn didn't really feel like going. Yesterday did a lot of yardwork out back. Took out some trees and pulled some monster logs from the creek. It'll look nicer down there now. Then we hit a party over at one of our neighbors. Great food, met some new people. Good party, glad we went. No fireworks, but we did watch some on TV. Nothing else happening. I should go for a bike ride, but don't really feel like it now. Maybe early tomorrow. I'm off Monday, too, so I may go play frisbee golf. The Georgia Force has a playoff game Monday night, so we'll be there hoping they can get to the Division Finals with a win. Otherwise, no more football for our guys this year. Back to work on Tuesday, and on Friday have a big work party at US Play in Kennesaw. Bowling, BBQ and fun. WooHoo. That's it for now. Byezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hey it's a bit cooler out!

Wed, June 11th, 2008 @ 11:57AM

Yes, it hasn't gotten a bit cooler the last couple of days. A welcome relief I must say. Dawn and I celebrated our 28th Anniversary last Saturday(June 7). We went to a movie (Indiana Jones) and out for dinner (Kara Mia). Both were nice. Then went to Macy's where Dawn picked out a little something for her present. I'm not good at planning gifts, and this year was no exception. The plan I made 3 days prior didn't pan out. Got my bike fixed last week, so back on the road again for me. Maybe shed a few pounds. I wish gas wasn't $4 a gallon, makes a trip to the Silver Comet Trail so unappealing. I screwed up on June 1st. I was supposed to work sound at Church, but saw it as the wrong date. I played hooky and THEN realized I was supposed to be there. Sorry Tim and all worship Team members, I screwed up big time. This past Sunday I played as a fill in for Mike, and will play my normal spot this week. All the kids are moved out at one time. We have our basement back, and it's great watching TV, shooting pool or throwing darts where it's so much cooler. I missed that. Dan's car had some issues on Monday, but the good guys at Team 1 fixed it by Tuesday. Dawn's looking for a job, if anyone needs some part time help, she's open to check it out. That's it, BYEZZZZZZZZZZ

Memorial Day

Mon, May 26th, 2008 @ 12:49PM

What a Holiday Weekend. Took Delilah to the vet to remove her drain tubes. Wait, that story hasn't been told here yet. Anyway about a week ago, actually it was exactly a week, Delilah and Buddy, our friend's dog had a small squirmish. We didn't think it was much until the next morning when she wouldn't move and was shaking. Dawn took her to the vet where they found a few puncture wounds in her abdomen. They stitched them up and put drain tubes in her body to remove any fluids. Well Saturday she got them out. We passed by the local Chevy dealer where we stopped to look at trucks for Rob. He came back later and he bought one. It's a 2007 Silverado 1500 with a 6 inch lift and camoflauge triming. It has all the bells and whistles and is a great looking truck with only 30000 miles on it. Then on Sunday we finished cleaning the garage and put down the epoxy floor. After it dried overnight it looks great. It was worth the work and Dawn found these kits at Lowes at the oops paint bin cause they didn't tint them to the first customers liking. $80 to do the garage in which a neighbor had a quote of $3000. We need to go into business for this. Well that's it, going to the Johnson's for a group party. See ya. Byezzzzzzz.

The Land Rover is Running

Wed, May 14th, 2008 @ 7:52PM

For those that know the story of Rob's Land Rover, this will make sense. If not, you'll have to live with it. I am hoping for the best with this thing so we can sell it. Anyone looking for a 95 Land Rover Discovery? Great off road vehicle.

Well the boys took Dawn and I out for Mother's day this evening. It was the first night all 5 of us could make it. We had a nice dinner at Provino's. Got home and cut the grass since rain is on the way, and we'll be gone this weekend at Jordan and Elise's wedding. Then helped Rob finish his truck. YES I said FINISH fixing his truck. All parts back together after replacing head gaskets. The drum roll came and the starter kicked to life and turned over that 3.9 liter V-8. The fuel pump filled up the fuel lines and voila, it came to life. She sounded pretty quiet, but then there was smoke everywhere. Thick creamy smoke. We were worried. No leaks, let the engine heat up, thermostat open and water flowing. Still no leaks but still alot of smoke. Rob took it for a quick ride around the neighborhood. Smoke galore. Turned her off, checked all fluid levels all ok. Cranked it and let it idle. Rob took another short ride. Came back, still smoking. Thought came to my head, well the head gaskets blew spewing water all inside the heads and into the exhaust system. My thinking is there's water all through the exhaust pipes and muffler. We let her idle and heat up good, after about 30 the smoke was pretty much gone. I may have stumbled on to something. Anyway, wrapped things up, Rob will check her out in daylight and take her for a more strenuous drive tomorrow. Well I'm dirty and tired, thanks guys for dinner, and I'm going to bed soon. Byezzzzzzzzz.

Blog #1

Sat, May 10th, 2008 @ 5:30AM

OK, Blog #1. Saturday morning ...... slept in. 7:30...... looks like it rained pretty hard last night. The garden we planted seems to be doing well. Radishes, carrots, cukes, green beans and cantelope are all sprouting. Tomato and pepper plants are doing well. Our one tomatillo plant has numerous blooms. Had a good meeting last night with the group. Thanks to the Reichart's for hosting a nice evening. Good luck to Chuck and Ioli. Welcome to Marlo and Robert(and Caden). Not sure what we're doing today, but I do have to take our bikes in for a tune up, maybe that. Bye for now.
