I just finished reading The Shack by William P. Young. WOW! What an incredible book. I highly recommend you reading this. WARNING! WARNING Will Robison! WARNING! If you have any preconceived ideas of God and are not willing to let go of those ideas, this is NOT the book for you. Not to give anything away, but God is portrayed as Papa, a big black woman who loves to cook; Jesus is a Middle-Eastern carpenter with a tool belt around His waist; and the Holy Spirit is Sarayu, an Asian woman who is "way out there." Yes, two women and one man represent the Trinity. And how fun it is to read how They relate to one another, and how They want us to relate to Them. Doyle and I just heard a sermon about recognizing Jesus in a form you've never seen before. Mark 6:47-56. When Jesus was walking on the water, the disciples thought He was a ghost. They didn't recognize Him because He was in a different form. (Jesus walking on the road to Emmaus is another awesome example). Since we heard this sermon, my eyes have been opened to many situations where I normally would not have recognized God, and reading this book is one. Mark chapter 6 also says that Jesus intended to pass by the disciples in the boat. We have to look for Him! We must be hungry and desperate! If we don't, He intends to pass us by. Take a chance that it is Jesus walking on the water. Don't be afraid of the unknown. God is good. If we are truly seeking Him, we will only find God. Please read The Shack and let God's creativity take you to places you've never been before. The principles have changed my perception of who God is and who I am in Him. The critics are saying that this book has the potential to do for our generation what Pilgrim's Progress did for that generation. It really is that good. Blessings! Tonya
