I just noticed recently, in light of what Paul deals with later about all of their sectarianism, it struck me that Paul mentions Jesus over and over in the first nine verses. Look at how many times he says His name. I was just thinking that maybe we should "give a reading" of the whole letter. I don't know how long it would take, but maybe one week we should just read the whole thing aloud in one sitting. I would like to try to hear it all together. To get that big picture. Then I thought, what if we did some Scripture readings on campus where we met for lunch or coffee and someone picked a New Testament letter that we could read in 30 minutes to an hour and just read it aloud. This could either be really weird or really wonderful, or a little of both. It would be interesting to see if people would get into it. |
