Topic: Hiking to the roof top of Africa - Kilimanjaro
Original topic created on Wed, April 2nd, 2008 @ 11:48AM

Last year I had the incredible opportunity to hike Mt. Kilimanjaro. We had a team of 6 people - we were hiking to raise funding for a village school that our church sponsors. Kilimanjaro is 19,334 ft. It was amazing, difficult, exhausting, exhilarating, and worth every minute. If you ever get the chance - go for it. Here are some pictures from the hike...

The bathrooms on the mountain were less than desirable. Hope you can hold your breath.

We all made it down after 22 hours of hiking. The last 2 days were the most difficult. But we did it and raised $17,000 for a village school.

So you have no desire to spend $100K on really expensive gear that will get you halfway up Everest, where you will permafreeze into the side of the mountain?

I don't get it. I just don't get it.
