I'm putting my thoughts about today's vids AFTERWARDS. It's better that way.
Number ONE: The saddest, baddest, maddest (most maddening) song on the planet earth, and I have yet to hear any NASA-captured cosmic radiation bleeps sound anywhere near as good, so I'll go ahead and say it's the most aforementioned song in the entire universe. I have to gin up the levity because when I'm in the mood for this movie I know I'm in the profoundest of funks. On the other hand, it is simultaneously truthful beyond comfort and segues most naturally into the most joyful, stomp-enist celebration this side of glory. It's good to be a spiritual jew. ... emm, in a covenant-fulfilled-by-jesus-therefore-expanded kind of way. Did I CYA well enough? Yesterday, I tried to post some other videos that were on my mind, but ... I couldn't work the right buttons and managed to frustrate myself into quitting. Tonight I didn't feel like revisiting yesterday's mood, so I'm going with an All-Fiddler night and managed to fall into a unplanned pattern of Jewish (via hollywood) and christian interaction. Even the nuttiness of the bonus non-music video has it. What Providential luck! Number TWO: I don't know why, but I've been thinking about the concept of exile again recently. It seems such a pervasive theme, always hovering, always at the ready to pounce and reassert its unbearable dislocation and disorientation. We have no home on Earth; none of us. I'll stop blathering; you know what I'm talking about. What a lifeline Tevya's humor is. God bless all of us who always wear our hats. Number THREE: Holy schlemiel meets schlimazel! There's an apologetics paper to be written about this one. There's also a part two FWIW.
