How were you first introduced to Andree Seu's writings? My first introduction to Andree Seu was her almost weekly column in World Magazine. It was in 2001 and she was weighing the problem of evil in a light of the events of September 11th. The title read "True patriotism" followed by the deck "Beyond hysterical hawkishness and limp pacifism" and seemed to hide a question within the proclamation. In the opening lines she writes: "Ours is a religion of interiors and not exteriors only, where every presenting issue--whether it be patriotism or parenting--is the doorway to heart searches and focus that shifts from horizontal to vertical dimensions. For this reason I have been slow to jump on certain bandwagons that have come my way since Sept. 11." My reaction was, right on. Finally, someone puts words to the wordless thoughts in my head. |
