How were you first introduced to Andree Seu's writings? My first introduction to Andree Seu was her almost weekly column in World Magazine. It was in 2001 and she was weighing the problem of evil in a light of the events of September 11th. The title read "True patriotism" followed by the deck "Beyond hysterical hawkishness and limp pacifism" and seemed to hide a question within the proclamation. In the opening lines she writes: "Ours is a religion of interiors and not exteriors only, where every presenting issue--whether it be patriotism or parenting--is the doorway to heart searches and focus that shifts from horizontal to vertical dimensions. For this reason I have been slow to jump on certain bandwagons that have come my way since Sept. 11." My reaction was, right on. Finally, someone puts words to the wordless thoughts in my head.

I too was introduced to Andree Seu's writings through her column in World Magazine.
My husband is a news hound and has read World cover to cover, every issue, for years now. Way back when, he would often tear out the various must reads and put them on the fridge, on my nightstand, in my purse, etc....his loving attempts to help keep my brain alive and me connected to the world out there as I embarked on this all consuming journey of birthing and raising our five kids. Andree's column never seemed to miss the weekly selection. So that's how Andree and I became "good friends." She just kept popping up week after week until, I must say, we became "best buds." Somewhere along the way, I'm sorry to say, I began to behave like an addict. I started intercepting the magazine at the mailbox to get my fix. I tore her page out and passed it around my Sunday School class to attract partners in crime. Now I get it immediately online before the hard copy arrives. The modern equivilant of IV drugs? I just love the way she thinks and writes.
